Updates About What Happened in Fall 2021

Updated July 26, 2023

We wanted to provide a timely update to our community on the situation of criminal charges brought against a former Hopewell staff member that was communicated in early October.  In October 2021, the former staff member was charged with one count of Possession of a Pornographic Work involving a Minor. The investigation by the Anoka county police and the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) is still ongoing.  Immediately upon learning of this situation last fall, Hopewell terminated their employment, canceled all lessons in perpetuity, blocked access to Hopewell’s servers and student database, and contacted all families who may have been impacted. To date, investigators have found no evidence that that current or former Hopewell students were involved.

Hopewell remains committed to ensuring a safe and comfortable place for our students, staff and community and preventing any situation like this from happening again in the future. To this end we have partnered with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children to provide the following resources to help families who may wish to learn more or access prevention education.

To learn more about this type of crime, we invite you to visit the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children to learn about child sexual abuse material, the impact, and how they help support children and families.
